About the author
My name is Cesare Tagliaferri; I am Italian and currently I live in Singapore.
My first experience with a Mac was in late 2004, when I left my job to do an MBA and I needed a laptop. At the time I was a Linux user by choice, and Windows user by necessity, at work. The reason why I decided to get a Mac was my wife: she used to use Mac when she was younger, and she was so sure that it was better that I decided to give it a shot and bought a Powerbook G4. I have used many different Macs since, and I have had no reasons to look back.
Now I use Mac everywhere, at home and at work, even though I work in a Windows-centric company. I can tell you more: since I first started bringing my own laptop at work, having given back the company’s one, seven more colleagues followed the same route, including the CEO. All of us “switchers” have also moved from Blackberry to iPhone.
I am quite a geek, and I love to use the right tool for every task. Since some time I’m thinking of starting a web site, or a blog, or something else where to share my experience with the Mac and with all the applications that I use or have tried these past years. There are probably hundreds of similar blogs, but I plan to do something slightly different: you will not find here news from other sites, or review of applications that I have discovered recently; I will only discuss things that I know well, on which I have acquired a good experience, and which I think might be useful to others. Especially those of you who are in my situation, having decided to use a Mac in a Windows-centric world. I will try to focus on workflows rather than applications.
My main interests are:
- Productivity: all things around productivity and how to reduce procrastination. I will share my experiences around the “Getting Things Done” (GTD) methodology and my workflows. I will also discuss my switch from a hierarchical system to a tag-based one (this is still work-in-progress, but I now clearly see the advantages of tags vs folders, and I won’t look back);
- Security: I have always been fascinated by security, in all its forms. I will discuss topics like email signatures, encryption, network security, social networks, etc. All this from an end-user perspective.
Thanks for stopping by!
All the best,
Cesare Tagliaferri
